Course Description: This hands-on training, taught and supervised by expert American physicians, offers the rare opportunity to perform vein-removal surgical procedures by working with patients in a modern clinical facility in the Dominican Republic. Doctors with international reputations in the treatment of venous disease offer small-group practical and classroom instruction in an intensive 3.5-day course. Participants will learn to perform endovenous ablation, ambulatory phlebectomy, sclerotherapy and venous ultrasound within the setting of a private, state-of-the-art out-patient facility. To ensure high quality and provide personalized attention, the course is limited to a maximum of eight participants. For convenience, accommodations are available in a world-class resort one mile from the clinic.

The goal of the course is to prepare physicians to perform at the highest skill levels in an area of medicine currently experiencing rapid growth. The incidence of peripheral arterial disease continues to grow as the population ages and contributing factors such as diabetes and obesity become more prevalent. Physicians working in a variety of fields increasingly must evaluate patients with peripheral vascular disease. The most serious cases frequently lead to amputation.

Experts remain convinced that the majority of such amputations can be avoided.
